Jellyfish or sea jelly


Jellyfish or sea jelly is the informal common name given to the medusa-phase of certain gelatinous members of the subphylum
Medusozoa , a major part of the phylum
Cnidaria . Jellyfish are mainly free-swimming marine animals with umbrella-shaped bells and trailing tentacles, although a few are not mobile, being anchored to the seabed by stalks. The bell can pulsate to provide propulsion and highly efficient locomotion . The tentacles are armed with stinging cells and may be used to capture prey and defend against predators. Jellyfish have a complex life cycle; the medusa is normally the sexual phase, the planula larva can disperse widely and is followed by a sedentary polyp phase.
Jellyfish are found all over the world, from surface waters to the deep sea. Scyphozoans (the "true jellyfish") are exclusively marine, but some hydrozoans with a similar appearance live in freshwater . Large, often colorful, jellyfish are common in coastal zones worldwide. The medusae of most species are fast growing, mature within a few months and die soon after breeding, but the polyp stage, attached to the seabed, may be much more long-lived. Jellyfish have roamed the seas for at least 500 million years, and possibly 700 million years or more, making them the oldest multi-organ animal group.
Jellyfish are eaten by humans in certain cultures, being considered a delicacy in some Asian countries, where species in the
Rhizostomae are pressed and salted to remove excess water. They are also used in research, where the green fluorescent protein, used by some species to cause
bioluminescence , has been adapted as a fluorescent marker for genes inserted into other cells or organisms. The stinging cells used by jellyfish to subdue their prey can also injure humans. Many thousands of swimmers are stung every year, with effects ranging from mild discomfort to serious injury or even death; small box jellyfish are responsible for many of these deaths. When conditions are favourable, jellyfish can form vast swarms. These can be responsible for damage to fishing gear by filling fishing nets, and sometimes clog the cooling systems of power and desalination plants which draw their water from the sea.

Human Genetics


Genetics researchers announced today that they will beginning a five-year plan to create a map of human migrations based on DNA mapping. The "Genographic Project" will be funded by the Waitt Family Foundation , IBM Corporation , and the National Geographic Society , and plans to collect 100,000 samples of DNA from people all over the world in order to sequence how related to each other they are. Details on data collection have not yet been specified, but there are implications that some of the data will come from field work among indigenous groups, and that other individuals may purchase kits to submit their own DNA in order to learn about their own genes.

The project has drawn immediate comparison with the failed Human Genome Diversity Project from the 1990s, which ended after controversy over the patenting of the DNA of indigenous peoples. The Genographic Project leaders say that they will make the information from their project public and will not patent genes. Whether or not researchers using the data will be subject to licensing guidelines, or whether they can patent their own discoveries using the data, remains to be answered.

In the last decade, the role of IBM tabulating machines in the Holocaust has been explored and criticized by a number of historians, and National Geographic has often been a target of critical theorists who have seen it as often representing the "gaze" of imperialism and Orientalism .
Previous genetic mapping projects which focused on specific ethnic groups have met with continuous controversy, with allusions often made to the projects of racial
anthropometry of the early 20th century which served as the "scientific" backbone to scientific racism and eugenics legislation. Though the Genographic Project participants have tried to emphasize that their project will be to look at the "similarities" between different groups of people rather than the "differences," it seems likely to remain a controversial issue.

 भारत का केंद्रीय बैंक जल्द ही 100 रुपये का नया नोट जारी करने वाला है। इस नए नोट पर RBI के गवर्नर उर्जित पटेल के सिग्नीचेर होंगे। RBI की ओर से जारी बयान के अनुसार इस नोट के पिछले हिस्से पर 'रानी की वाव' का चित्र होगा।
इस नोट का रंग लैवेंडर है। नोट का साइज 66 एमएम गुणा 142एमएम है। 100 अंक छिपा भी हुआ है। नोट छापने का वर्ष अंकित है। स्वच्छ भारत का लोगो नारे के साथ दिया गया है। भाषा का पैनल यथावत रखा गया है। देवनागरी लिपी में 100 अंक लिखा गया है। महात्मा गांधी की तस्वीर मध्य में लगी हुई है। नोट पर अन्य डिजाइन, जियोमैट्रिक पैटर्न बने हुए हैं। 
आपको बता दें कि केंद्रीय बैंक ने साफ कर दिया है कि नए नोट के जारी होने के साथ ही पुराने नोट की वैधता बरकरार है। नए बैंक नोट जारी होने के साथ ही इन्हीं धीमे-धीमे प्रचलन

Evolution of mobile phones, to an early smartphone

A mobile phone , known as a cell phone in North America, is a portable telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio frequency link while the user is moving within a telephone service area. The radio frequency link establishes a connection to the switching systems of a mobile phone operator , which provides access to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Modern mobile telephone services use a cellular network architecture, and, therefore, mobile telephones are called cellular telephones or cell phones , in North America. In addition to telephony , 2000s-era mobile phones support a variety of other services , such as text messaging,  MMS ,email , Internet access , short-range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth ), business applications, video games , and digital photography . Mobile phones offering only those capabilities are known as feature phones; mobile phones which offer greatly advanced computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones .

The first handheld mobile phone was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell  and Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973, using a handset weighing c. 2 kilograms (4.4 lbs).  In 1979, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) launched the world's first cellular network in Japan. In 1983, the DynaTAC 8000x was the first commercially available handheld mobile phone. From 1983 to 2014, worldwide mobile phone subscriptions grew to over seven billion, penetrating virtually 100% of the global population and reaching even the bottom of the economic pyramid. In first quarter of 2016, the top smartphone developers worldwide were Samsung , Apple, and Huawei (and "martphone sales represented 78 percent of total mobile phone sales").  For feature phones (or "dumbphones") as of 2016, the largest were Samsung, Nokia , and Alcatel .

Coordinated Universal Time  (abbreviated to UTC ) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. It is within about 1 second of mean solar time at
0° longitude , and does not observe daylight saving time . For most purposes, UTC is considered interchangeable with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), but GMT is no longer precisely defined by the scientific community.

The first Coordinated Universal Time was informally adopted on 1 January 1960,  but the official abbreviation of UTC and the official English name of Coordinated Universal Time (along with the French equivalent), was not adopted until 1967.

A specimen of this species, located in the White Mountains of California was measured by Tom Harlan, a researcher with the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research , to be 5,067 years old.  The identity of the specimen is being kept secret by Harlan.This is the
oldest known non-clonal tree in the world.

The previously oldest named specimen of this species, "Methuselah ", is also located in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest of the White Mountains . Methuselah is 4,849 years old, as measured by annual ring count on a small core taken with an increment borer . Its exact location is also kept secret. Among the White Mountain specimens, the oldest trees are found on north-facing slopes, with an average of 2,000 years, as compared to the 1,000 year average on the southern slopes.  The climate and the durability of their wood can preserve them long after death, with dead trees as old as 7,000 years persisting next to live ones.
